Campus Fiber Cross-Connect

N10-007 2.1 · N10-009 1.5 · AP 2.3.B / 3.3.C

You're the part-time network tech at Camas Ridge Campus. The riser between Birchwood Library (IDF) and Foster Science Hall (MDF) was just pulled: a pre-terminated OM4 multimode pair already lands on the fiber panels (LIUs) in both rooms, with the polarity crossover built into the riser. Your job is to seat the right transceivers, patch each switch to its panel, put the distribution switch on protected power, and verify the cross-building link comes up.

Cross-connect diagram

Work the cross-connect

1 · Seat transceivers

The riser is OM4 multimode running 1 Gbps over ~280 m.

2 · Patch each switch to its fiber panel (LIU)

The Tx/Rx crossover lives in the riser, so both end patches stay straight.

3 · Power the distribution switch
4 · Verify the link
